Race to Zero is a global campaign to rally leadership and support from businesses, cities, regions, investors for a healthy, resilient, zero carbon recovery that prevents future threats, creates decent jobs, and unlocks inclusive, sustainable growth. It mobilizes a coalition of leading net zero initiatives, representing 1,049 cities, 67 regions, 5,235 businesses, 441 of the biggest investors, and 1,039 Higher Education Institutions. These ‘real economy’ actors join 120 countries in the largest ever alliance committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 at the latest. Collectively these actors now cover nearly 25% global CO2 emissions and over 50% GDP.
2030 Race to Conservation is a global campaign to increase subnational protected areas by 30% in intermediate governments by 2030 to counteract the alarming deforestation of recent decades. This action calls for sustaining biodiversity at all levels of government to reach an area that positively offsets the loss by the end of the decade. It is necessary to create a virtuous circle that integrates conservation and water in order to avoid continuing to move forward in unconnected silos.
2025 2035 Race to Finance is a global campaign to engage the first 10 subnational governments in carbon markets by 2025 through the GREEN+ Jurisdictional Programme and generate abundant financial resources that can secure conservation and accelerate decarbonization. A new financial architecture is needed to return the true value of natural capital to international markets, harness new clean technologies, create green jobs and kick-start a net-zero emissions economy. Race to Constitution is a global campaign to promote constitutional reforms from the executive branch of regional governments to restore the rights of nature and reach 2035 with a significant number of international commitments on all continents.
